Yes. Speedplace uses the same fully automated SMT lines at SMTEC AG that also produce series of 10,000+ pieces. We have no separate "prototype line" with hand placement or reduced quality standard. You get production quality from piece one.
Seamlessly. SMTEC operates several identical SMT lines – your prototype and the later series are produced on one of these identical lines, with the same solder profiles, the same placement heads and the same quality inspection. This means no requalification of the manufacturing process is needed. Once your project grows into higher quantities, the regular SMTEC sales team takes over with volume-optimised terms – on the same identical lines.

Yes. Three models are available: turnkey (we source everything), partial turnkey (you provide critical components, we source the rest) and consignment (you deliver all components, we manufacture). We recommend turnkey for maximum speed, as our distributor integration massively accelerates the sourcing process.
Yes. SMTEC is ISO 13485:2016 certified. Speedplace is therefore suitable for PCBAs in medical devices. For specific requirements please speak directly with our quality management.
Speedplace is a service of SMTEC AG, a Swiss second-generation family-owned EMS company based in Kleinandelfingen, Switzerland. SMTEC has been manufacturing electronics for medtech, rail, sensor, industrial applications and many other industries since 1999.
For a complete online quote we need Gerber data (or ODB++) and the bill of materials (BOM) as Excel or CSV. A pick-and-place file accelerates setup but is not mandatory. Schematics are not required. A BOM template is available in the portal.
Yes. All customer data is hosted in Europe and subject to European data protection law (GDPR). We accept an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) after review. Data is used only for quotation, manufacturing and order processing – never for marketing or third parties.
Yes. We ship to the entire EU and worldwide on request. Invoicing in EUR is possible. Shipping typically via DPD, DHL or freight forwarder; on Express or Turbo orders we ship on the same day as production completion.
The portal checks material availability live across multiple distributors. You immediately see which parts are unavailable and can approve form-fit-function alternatives yourself. If no alternative is possible, you place an inquiry – we clarify whether we can source the part and send you a quote. In case of critical shortages the chosen speed tier may extend; in that case we inform you before order confirmation. Speedplace is honest: a realistic lead time beats a broken promise.
FR4 (standard) runs fully via the online configurator. Aluminium (IMS), rigid-flex and pure flex PCBs are available but go through a request workflow – we clarify design specifics and respond with price and lead time within 1–2 working days. HDI and multilayer up to 16 layers are standard.
Every assembly is visually inspected to IPC-A-610 Class 2 – Class 3 on request. Optional 3D-AOI (automated optical inspection) measures every solder joint. X-ray inspection for BGAs and QFNs as well as electrical functional tests (ICT/FCT) are available on request.
No. The BOM check runs automatically on upload and flags critical components. A DFM report (Design for Manufacturing) is an optional configurator option with no additional lead-time impact (+0 working days). It reviews layout risks such as pad distances, component orientation, solder mask and panelisation options.
The price depends on board size, number of components, quantity, speed tier and scope of services. For example, an FR4 board 100×80 mm with 60 SMD components in 5 pieces costs significantly different than 100 pieces. That's why this page shows no list prices – the online configurator shows the exact price in a few clicks.
The lead time confirmed in the portal is contractually binding, provided material is available and there are no customer changes after release. If there are technical queries about your project, the lead time pauses for that period – always transparently visible in the portal. You influence the delay yourself: the faster your approval arrives, the smaller the delay. SMTEC's on-time delivery rate has been above 98% for years. If something does delay, we communicate actively and transparently – we don't hide problems.

SMD from 01005 (0.4×0.2 mm) up to large THT components. BGA, QFN, LGA and fine-pitch down to 0.2 mm pitch are routinely manufactured – including X-ray inspection on request. Double-sided assembly and mixed SMD/THT are standard. Please pre-clarify very large or unusual components.
Yes, as special services on request: functional test (FCT/ICT) with custom test fixtures, IC programming, box-build / final assembly (mechanical assembly into housing) and customer-specific packaging. Please get in touch early – these services need prior clarification and are quoted separately.
